The band was founded in 1997 under the name Timezone and recorded a demo in the same year. Unfortunately the band split up before the material could be released. After re-uniting in the summer of 1999, the band decided to change its name to Human Fortress. A new demo was recorded (at Hannover's "Airport Studio") and released later that year.
